CONFESSION:
THE MYSTERY OF PENANCE AND RECONCILIATION
The Mystery of Penance is also know as Reconciliation because through it we
confess our sins with repentant hearts and, having received the absolution
through the priest, we are reconciled to God.
Our Lord Jesus Christ told the Apostles: "Receive the Holy Spirit: whose
sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them." Jn. 21:22-23. The holy
Apostle Paul said: "He has given to us the ministry of reconciliation." 2
Cor. 5:18. The ministry of the Apostles continues through the ministry of
the Church's bishops and priests. The Mystery of Penance is the ordinary
means by which baptized persons are reconciled to God after they have fallen
into sin.
All parishioners should make a good confession during the Great Fast in
preparation for Pascha.
Since
confessions should not be rushed, if you desire to make a confession, please
arrive early to church. Confessions must end 10 minutes before the
Liturgies. |
